Some secret sources of mine, who know Mr. Brogden in both professional and social capacities, would probably say this sort of thing is not entirely out of character. Indeed, the words 'typical private school, rugby playing thug' and 'boorish' may or may not have been used by said secret sources to describe Mr. Brogden. No offense is intended to former private school students, rugby players, thugs or boors.*

It's incredible that just when the Libs were probably in a position to at least make the next election contestable they shoot themselves in the foot. I may have been out of the country for a month, but unless something drastic has happened, there's no real alternative as a leader. Not that that makes me sad, mind you.
From my contact with him John Brogden isn't a bad person, but I think this comment says a lot about him, and perhaps what image he was trying to portray at this function.
